SUSTAINABILITY
SUSTAINABILITY 1

Could we pay back the earth for what it provides?

According to the Global Footprint Network, to maintain our current consumption of the world’s natural resources, the entire human population would need 1.6 x planet Earth to keep up. We aren’t too sure when this timeline started, but it’s pretty clear we (humankind) need to find a way to re-balance the scales.

And yep, we agree, this will require a long term approach, but we also believe the right way forward starts small. It starts by simply raising awareness of what is happening out there. From this, the awareness turns into a recognition of our responsibility to the earth as humans. And lots of little things over time add up to big things.

But where to start?

Sustainability at sloane st.

In order to ensure a sustainable future for fashion, we must act more positively toward outgrown clothes. There is a need to reconsider our approach to our clothes and what happens to them after we no longer wear them. This is where Sloane St comes in, bringing circular services into the mainstream in luxury fashion.

SEAS 2 01 1

Clean the sea

$XX DONATED TO DATE

We make 160 million tonnes of plastic a year. Without a solid system in place to collect this, approximately 70% of this ends up in landfill, or back into the environment. It eventually ends up in our oceans, and then into the water we drink, food we eat, even the air we breathe.

Only 10% of waste this is recycled.

We support the Seabin Project. They endeavour to remove floating plastics from the seas, filtering a whopping 600,000L a day from oil, surface pollutants, and of course, plastic – bits as small as 2mm!

YOUR IMPACT

YOUR $1 removes 1.2kg of plastic & debris from the ocean.

Restoring our land

$XX DONATED TO DATE

Since Europeans settled in Australia, over 90 million hectares of land have been cleared. This has hurt the animals and made the farmlands not work as well. Climate change will make things worse.

We support Greening Australia on one of the worlds largest ecological restoration programs. In collaboration with the land’s Traditional Owners, scientists and local land owners as they aim to restore 330,000 hectares of native Australian trees by the year 2030.

Over this time, the 500 million trees and shrubs planted across Australia, which will absorb 1.3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.

YOUR IMPACT

$50 plants enough trees and shrubs to store 1 tonne of carbon dioxide.

REEF 02 02 01 1

RESTORIng the reef

$XX DONATED TO DATE

Did you know that the Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest living thing? And it’s under threat. In the last 35 years, 50% of the reef’s coral has been lost to land erosion, run-off from agriculture and urban land use. Over 50% of the surrounding coastal wetlands that would normally filter this run off is also gone.

10 million tons of sediment flow onto the Reef every year. It affects not only the reef but also the livelihoods of people who have lived there for over 60,000 years.

Greening Australia endeavours to restore 12,000 hectares of lost land and wetlands and to stop 400,000 tonnes of sediment from polluting the reef each year. Reaching this will improve water quality, rejuvenate the reef and the lives of the Indigenous Australians who live on this land.

YOUR IMPACT

$50 prevents 1 tonne of sediment from reaching the great barrier reef
